I am self taught designer, who loves to dabble in all things creative, mother of a lovely girl and wife!! I love to create wonderful handmade one of the kind baby blankets, playmats, toys, tote bags and cosmetic pouches for you and your child. The materials I use are all hand picked and 100% cotton prints, flannels and fleeces.
We also do custom orders with special fabrics making a one of a kind keepsake for your child.
Other things that i love and inspire me, photography, furniture, architecture and human anatomy and physiology (yes i love this subject!), this list is ever changing so everyday is a great day to discover something new that i never knew that i liked!.......
The name “Guava Design” was inspired by a childhood incident that occurred on my family farm in Lusaka, Zambia when I was about three years old.
As told by my father over and over and over again, while he was supposed to be watching me while my mother was away, I wandered out of the house and sat down in the garden under my favorite guava tree and ate every piece of fruit that had fallen on the ground.
When I finally couldn’t eat anymore, I found my way back to the farmhouse and told my father I had a really bad stomach ache.
After he looked and prodded and felt how round and firm my stomach was, and under extreme distress, he rushed me to our family doctor who assured him that I would be okay, and that my “ailment” would resolved itself in a couple of days. As time went by, the panic and relief of that day eventually became a childish belly laugh every time my father told the story.
My father is no longer with us, but every time I eat a guava I can see his panic and hear his laughter, I realize this is a silly story, but I’ve also come to realize that its moments like these that make life so meaningful.
